Terms of Use.

These are the terms of use that you as a member of Mindful Village agree to when you register with us and become a member:

I understand that my participation and the participation of members of my family, in any MV function or program is completely voluntary, and hereby, by becoming a member of the MV community, give permission for myself and my family members to join those functions or programs. My family shall hold harmless this local MV group, and MV volunteers or representatives, and/or any providers of any function or program locations and/or materials from any liability and/or responsibility for any accident, illness or injury that occurs during or as a result of any function or program. I accept that the final responsibility for my safety and that of my family members rests with me.

On line Bulletin-Board User Agreement

Registration to this forum is $10.00 per family, annually. You are permitted only ONE registration and ONE identity per person, which must be applied for with an ISP-based email address. Multiple registrations and identities will be removed at the discretion of the administrator. We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. Other family members are allowed to register a username at no additional cost. Please send an email to after registering each additional family member and reference your family’s membership number along with their username.

What we are about at Mindful Village. MV serves an online community of parents and parents-to-be considering, learning, practicing, and advocating attachment parenting and natural family living. Our discussions on the boards are about the real world of parenting and are first and foremost, for support and information. In doing so we ask that you agree to respect and uphold the integrity of this community. Through your direct or indirect participation here you agree to make a personal effort to maintain a comfortable and respectful atmosphere for our other members. We have formed specific discussion guidelines and rules for maintaining a reciprocal and welcoming atmosphere for all discussion board participants.

You are expected to avoid the following when you post:

1. Posting in a disrespectful, defamatory, adversarial, baiting, harassing, offensive, insultingly sarcastic or otherwise improper manner, toward a member or other individual, including casting of suspicion upon a person, invasion of privacy, humiliation, demeaning criticism, name-calling, personal attack, or in any way which violates the law.
2. Posting of profane or sexually explicit content is allowed ONLY in the TMI discussion forum, a subsection of the Member Talk forum. Discussions of a sexual nature on other forums should be within the realm of topics inherent to AP parenting or conscious family living discussions such as sex after delivery, sex and the family bed, etc.
3. Posting of copyrighted material without permission.
4. Posting solely to advertise your product or business is discouraged (see below for conditions to this.) Acceptable advertising is available on the board and on the website for very inexpensive rates to members of MV. Information may be obtained by contacting for banner ads.
5. Posting of overt political messages and statements should be restricted to the WORLD VIEWS forum. This is to maintain a friendly atmosphere on the main discussion board, where there is diversity of political views and opinions that run deep and often create conflict in our otherwise peaceful community. We regret the need to censure discussion of this nature, but we are doing so to allow for peaceful forums where members can go without experiencing conflict over differing political and religious opinions.
   
   In addition, individual forums may have rules and guidelines specific to them, which you will find posted at the top of the forum.

Violations A violation may result in your post being removed and you may receive an administrational warning, suspension, or complete ban from this community. Violations will be discussed privately by an anonymous disciplinary committee. See below for an outline of violation process.

Disclaimer Considering the real time nature of the board, it is impossible for us to review all messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of all posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of the administrators or facilitators of MV or any entity associated with this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email or private message. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make very effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine removal is necessary.

Your Responsibility Please be cautious in posting information of a personal nature or anything that might create legal concerns for you or MV.

Posts become the property of MV as an integral part of discussion threads. Deletion of posts will not be permitted as a rule but exceptions may be made at the discretion of the administration. We reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever and to remove the registration and membership of any individual who is deemed to have joined the community for adversarial or disrespectful purposes or whose behavior in PM, email, or other internet venues compromises the integrity MV or the MV community or individual members. As a member you remain solely responsible for the content of your messages and behavior, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mindful Village and their agents with respect to any claim based upon messages.

MV reserves the right to change this User Agreement as necessary to meet any future needs that may arise.

Given these guidelines, there is nothing wrong with friendly debate, socializing, and good humor. If you feel another member is behaving in a manner that is in violation of these rules, do not take matters into your own hands. Simply alert the MV facilitators.

Board Policy Enforcement

The User Agreement is enforced in the following manner:

Warnings and suspensions are issued and decided upon by an anonymous board of six members. Messages will be conveyed by a moderator to a member about misconduct are for the purpose of alerting the member of this misconduct and asking for restraint, and editing if necessary. After issuing the member an alert by a private message, the moderator will report the behavior to one of the facilitators who will, in turn, forward the offending email to the disciplinary committee. This board may also issue a warning or suspension.

Conduct issues will be recorded and action taken as follows:

1. Three alerts that did not result in a warning will automatically be counted as one warning and the member will be informed of this by one of the facilitators upon the issuance of the third alert from a moderator.
2. Three warnings will automatically result in a suspension of posting privileges and the member's subsequent return to the boards will be reconsidered after a trial period, to be determined by the disciplinary board.
3. A subsequent warning will result in a full ban and removal of membership as well as a block on the member's IP address.

Our procedures in applying these rules will affect a thread of discussion as follows:

1. The moderator, upon finding a post in violation of the User Agreement, will lock the thread as a preventative measure, posting a note of temporary closure - "This thread has been temporarily locked due to a user agreement violation and will be reopened shortly."
2. The violator will then be contacted with an alert. Should the violation be a severe one the moderator may elect to remove the contents of the post with a note to that effect and also write a private message as an alert to the member. Otherwise, the member will be encouraged by the moderator to reword the post.
3. The thread will then be unlocked to allow continuation of the discussion with a warning from the moderator that another violation within the thread will result in closure.
4. In the event of another violation the moderator will post to the thread to notify of closure, close the thread, and remove it from the main forum board. The moderator will also send a private message to the member in violation and inform the Administrator about the incident and a warning or suspension may be issued.

Based on the circumstances and violations the disciplinary committee may decide to remove posting privileges of a member with less than three warnings or without warning, as the circumstances merit. While the above policies and procedures are the rule and we will try our utmost to apply them, exceptions will occur and we will act in whatever manner we deem necessary to deal with infractions and behavior.

Advertising on the Board

MV is supportive of family-run and SAHM businesses. To that end, you may discuss your business in posts and use them in your signature. HOWEVER, if a member only posts about his/her business and is not otherwise an active part of the board, this will be considered an infraction of the rules and regulations and a warning will be issued. Paid advertising on the website and with banner ads on the board is very inexpensive to board members.
